Sheeple : Spoon Fed by Documentaries

This was my comment to a friend discussing my issues with Documentary's, where my initial comment had a cynical tone to it saying I didn't like how they admitted to sensationalizing parts of it to entertain rather than educate.

Yes, but I have the same tone towards any documentary made pushing one opinion over another. It is common practice to pick and choose the data and opinions that you want people to hear, and minimize any information that might go against what you're trying to convey.
Let's jump back to the movie super size me. Everyone got all up in arms about how eye opening that movie was, yet no one paid attention to the fact that he overestimated the laziness of the average American. That movie has been proven as slanted time and time again but people still swear by it.
You're right the masses don't read peer reviewed articles, they don't have to because people make documentaries telling them that it's all the info they need. That's a big part of the problem, people don't want to take the time to figure it out on their own, they want spoon fed so sensationalizing wins over facts.
You're also right there are tons of uncomfortable truths in there, but almost all opinions in the movie are from people who side with the movie. If they are scientists and doctor's giving this info, they should do it scientifically and give all the info from both sides and let the viewer make their choice, not spoon feed them the choice to make.
Making a documentary should be about teaching first, art second, but we as Americans won't watch it unless it's art first, teaching second.
Maybe I'm just too cynical of anything being brought to me as truth with sensationalism added in. Makes me wonder what they are leaving out.
I wasn't putting down the movie, just get leery when then admit to adjusting the movie to entertain, that's all.

We are allowing the rich, the powerful, and the outspoken to spoon feed us only the information they want us to have. We are bottle fed sheeple, and we are running towards it with open arms. This needs to stop.
