Want to know the reason so many people fight against Christianity?
1) We have Christ's teachings backwards. We are to live by example, then, when someone wants to become a Christian you can let them know that their actions are sin. You can't condemn the world for not living like you, then get mad when they don't want to be like you. If you spend all your time putting others down and condemning their actions, when it's a sin to you, but not to them, then why would they want to change to be like you?
2) You have turned into Christianity, rather than followers of Christ. Yes, there is a huge difference. Go back, read the new testament and tell me how many times Christ tells us that the church of the time was wrong. Why? They followed man made rules, and worried about how they were viewed by other men, rather than about their relationship with God. Christ himself was anti-religion and pro-relationship. The church was the name of those who believed, not a building that we must go to in order to be saved. We weren't meant to have a religion, we were meant to have a personal relationship. While you're fighting over doctrine and creating a thousand different denominations the world is falling apart and we aren't living the life Christ commanded of us.
3) We have become what Christ warned us against. We have become that which we were never meant to be. We are no longer worried about what Christ actually asked us to do, which was to LOVE ALL MANKIND and live by example. Instead we are worried about what people think of us, and what other Christians think of us. We are vain, we are self righteous, we are concerned with preserving our way of life no matter what it takes. I, for one, think modern Christianity is doing nothing but bringing shame to Christ.
4) When we have church leaders of every denomination that are worth millions of dollars, you are worshipping the golden calf by sending them money. When you have churches that spend millions of dollars on their buildings and decorations, and yet there are still poor and needy people in their community, you are worshipping the golden calf by spending your money vainly. When you condemn someone for wanting the freedom to practice their beliefs, and the complain when you have to sell a cake to a gay couple, you are worshipping the golden calf for being hateful and prideful. The golden calf is vanity, the golden calf is self righteousness, the golden calf is viewing yourself as better than someone else, and the golden calf is ignoring Christ's command to love ALL MANKIND regardless of their beliefs or their sin because it makes you uncomfortable.
I am a follower of Christ, but I am no longer a modern day Christian. I have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, because that's what he asked me to do. I am a sinner and I go to him alone when I sin for forgiveness. I do not follow that Christianity is what Christ wanted, because I believe that it has become the opposite of his teachings. If you go weeks without going to church, and you feel like less of a Christian then the issue is with your faith, not with the lack of entering a building. If you talk to other believers when you're not at church, and you pray, and you worship, but you still feel like less of a Christian, the problem is your faith in God. The church building is not a battery to recharge your faith, Christ is the battery. Relying on the building rather than relying on Christ himself is putting your faith in a physical object, and turning the church into the golden calf.
