Where is the american dream

Is greed and distrust and hatred and bigotry the american dream
Am I confused or am I just waking up
Where is the future I was promised
The flying cars and robot servants
Where is the space travel and my house on the moon
Where am I supposed to get the life I was promised
I work hard
The harder I work
The more money I make
The more expensive things get
And I can never catch up
Is this really what life is
Is this really the american way of life
Then why did they lie to us
Why fill our heads with dreams of things that will never come to be
Why brainwash us from birth to think that the world is ours
Why not tell us the truth and help make us stronger
Why not stop rigging the system for yourself
